Simple Ways Treating Diabetic Neuropathy-Neuropathy is a disease that affects the peripheral nervous system (PNS / peripheral nervous system). Civil servants control the movement of a body, sensation, and automatic functions such as sweat and blood pressure. If your nerves are damaged, various symptoms can occur depending on the type of nerve that is damaged. Neuropathy in the leg affects 2.4% of the population and 8% of people over the age of 55 suffer from this disease. The main cause is diabetes, but neuropathy can occur due to heredity or caused by infection, trauma, and other diseases. Therefore, working with doctors for treatment is a very important step.
1.Stroll around regularly
Try to walk outdoors at least three times a week. Or, do a comfortable and safe sport for you. Consult your doctor about the proper form of exercise. Exercise can smooth the flow of blood and fix the damaged nerves. Taking a walk can lower your blood glucose level overall and make it easier for you to control diabetes. If you can control diabetes, your neuropathy will decrease.
If you can not take the time to exercise, you can do small things to stay active. For example, you can play with pets, clean the house, or wash the car. All these activities can make your blood flow smoothly.
2.Soak your feet
Pour the warm water into a container or tub and add 1/4 cup of Epsom salt to every cup of water. Make sure the water temperature does not exceed 38 ºC. Put the foot into a container or tub until it is covered with water. The warm water can soothe and distract you from the pain in your feet. In addition, Epsom salts contain magnesium that can relax the muscles.
Before soaking your feet with Epsom salts, consult your doctor if you have an infection or swelling
3.Reduce or avoid alcoholic beverages
Alcohol can be toxic to the nerves, especially if the condition is damaged. Limit yourself to just enjoying four drinks a week. Some types of neuropathy are caused by alcoholism, so avoid alcohol if you have neuropathy. By stopping drinking, you can relieve the symptoms and prevent further nerve damage.
If alcoholism has decreased in the family, you should not drink it at all. Try to stop drinking alcohol totally to keep you healthy and safe.
4.Afternoon primrose oil consumption
This natural oil comes from wildflowers that can be obtained in pill form. Consult your doctor about the evening primrose oil supplement dosage that suits you. Research shows that fatty acids present in these oils can alleviate the symptoms of neuropathy. These fatty acids can also improve nerve function.
Other useful sources of fatty acids include black currant oil and borage oil
5.Try doing acupuncture
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine that is performed by jabbing needles at certain pressure points. Stimulation given at pressure points or acupoints makes the body release endorphins, which can relieve pain. The acupuncturist will insert 5 to 10 needles into the acupoint point, and leave it there for about 30 minutes. You need 6 to 12 acupuncture sessions for three months.
Before doing the treatment, first, check the reputation of the acupuncturist you want to use. Make sure the equipment and needles are used sterile so you do not get blood-borne diseases.
